Learning to Become a Caregiver is a web-based training and support program for caregivers of a senior who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
As part of this training, each caregiver receives guidance and support from a health professional who will help him or her through the various steps of the program. Each step will lead the caregiver to a better understanding of the disease and to
new and more effective ways of dealing with the challenges that may arise on a daily basis.
The training takes place over a 7-week period, with weekly sessions of approximately 60 to 90 minutes each.
This Web-based training and support program was developed by a research team at the Faculty of Nursing at Université de Montréal. It is now offered free of charge through the support of the organization L’Appui pour les proches aidants.
